Devils Push Win Streak to Three on Wednesday

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's volleyball team continued their strong play as of late with their third consecutive 3-0 victory on Wednesday night as the Red and White knocked off the visiting McDaniel College in Centennial Conference action at the Kline Center.

It was the visiting side that got out to a fast start in the first taking a 5-3 lead on kills from Abigail Cook and Nia Roberts. Then Dickinson answered back with three aces by Grace Coccagna as well as kills for Amelia Kim and Emma Lange to jump in front 8-5. McDaniel took six of the following ten points to close within 12-11, before scores from Sophia Denayer and Kim bumped the advantage out to 15-13. A kill by Mackenzie Mitchell and a DC error brought things level at 15, but then a 8-2 Devils response with points coming from Coccagna, Denayer, Kim, and Lange made it 23-17. The Green Terror grabbed three straight prior to a Denayer kill wrapping up the set 25-20.

Dickinson held the advantage (6-4) to begin the second thanks to kills by Dessie Anne Nietert, Emma Popham, Denayer, Kim, and Lange. Allyson Burgee pulled one back for the guests, before Camille Dofiles, Denayer, and Kim mounted a 13-4 charge to extend the margin to 19-9. McDaniel showed some fight in them at that point when kills from Kailey Young, Burgee, Mitchell, and Roberts closed the gap to 22-16. The Red and White closed out the game scoring three of the following four points to take it 25-17 with scores from Jordan Schucker, Denayer, and Kim.

For the second set in the match the guests had the quick start as Lauren Guyer and Jayda Patterson made it 5-3. A kill by Nietert and a combination block between Lange and Popham sparked an 8-3 Devils run culminating in a kill from Lange (11-8). After two points for McDaniel, Denayer, Dofiles, and Popham went on a 5-0 push, before the Terror answered with five of their own to leave the score at 16-15 home team. Kills by Ann Marie Patterson, Lange, and Popham led to a 7-3 DC stretch putting the Devils two points away from the match at 23-18. Four of the next five went to the visitors, before Denayer put down the final point of the match (25-22).
