LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson football team had six players named All-Centennial Conference as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Running back
Diante Ball was the lone Devil selected to the First Team, while
Princeton Douglass and
Tanner Long were tabbed for the Second Team. The trio of
Neville Krueger,
Sam Mueller, and
Alex Sulin each received Honorable Mention.
First Team
Ball earned his second All-Conference selection after being named Honorable Mention last season. He served as a main catalyst for the DC offense all season as he led the conference in total rushing yards (1105), rushing yards per game (110.5), and yards per carry (5.4) on 204 attempts on the year. Ball had five games where he eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground including a memorable day on September 17th at Gettysburg when he toted the rock 26 times racking up 277 yards and three touchdowns as the Red and White ran away from the Bullets 35-9. He also notched another three touchdown game on October 29th in a 45-7 romp of Juniata College.
Second Team
Douglass grabbed his second consecutive Second Team honor after being a "do-it-all" offensive weapon for the Devils as he led the team in receiving yards (457), receptions (35), and receiving touchdowns (3). He hit over the 100-yard mark in a single game on the road versus Gettysburg when he caught 2 passes for 102 yards and two TDs. His biggest play on the afternoon was a 73-yard strike he took to the house. Douglass was also second on the Red and White in rushing yards with 166 thanks to 34 carries. Finally, he averaged over 20.2 yards per kick return in his 17 chances accounting for 344 yards.
Long was rock solid for Dickinson in his one season in Carlisle after coming over from the University of Pennsylvania. From his linebacker spot he led the team in total tackles (106), solo tackles (40), and assisted stops (66). He also held the top spot in the Centennial for total tackles and assisted tackles. On the season Long tallied nine tackles for loss totaling 23 yards, in addition to recording three sacks, two pass break-ups, and one interception. He totaled double-digit stops in five games during the year, including a season-high 17 twice against McDaniel and Moravian. Long also recorded five or more solo tackles in a game four times versus Muhlenberg (7), McDaniel (9), Moravian (7), and Johns Hopkins (8).
Honorable Mention
Krueger picked up his second straight Honorable Mention after ranking just inside the Top-30 in the conference for total tackles with 51 thanks to 18 solo and 33 assisted to average 5.1 hits per contest. He also chipped in 7.5 tackles for loss to account for 23 yards, while adding three sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Krueger's biggest output of the season happened twice when he notched eight stops against both Susquehanna and Franklin & Marshall.
Mueller earned his first All-Conference selection as a senior after serving as a team captain and helping to anchor an offensive line for the Red and White that was tasked with protecting the quarterback quartet of
Rocco DiRico,
Presley Egbers,
Peter Graham, and
Matt Maiona. He was a key cog in helping the Devils to rush for more than 100 yards in a game six times, 200 yards three times, and 300 yards once when they put up 333 against Gettysburg on 42 attempts.
Sulin got his first selection to the All-Conference squad after recording 57 total tackles to rank second on the team and 19th in the conference. His 34 solo stops had him in a three-way tie for 12th within the Centennial. He also added five pass break-ups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. His best day came in the final home game of the season against nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins when he notched five solo stops and seven assisted hits.
