CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's tennis team might have struggled at the top of the ladder on Wednesday afternoon, but they responded in a big way at the later slots to pick up a massive 5-4 Centennial Conference win over the visiting Gettysburg College Bullets at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Gettysburg 2-1)
The third doubles pair of DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu was dominant in their victory over Zach Lachance and Max Levy by a score of 8-3. The other two doubles pairs of Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis as well as Garrick Adams and Thomas Griffin battled hard but ultimately came up on the short-end of 8-5 decisions.
Singles (DEVILS 4-2)
Veleanu grabbed the first singles win for the Red and White at the third spot downing Michael Zayneh in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. De Caprio picked up the second victory with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Matt Rau. The other two wins sealed up the match for the Devils as Lewis battled through some discomfort to knock off Lachance in three. He took the first 6-3, but dropped the second 4-6 before rallying back to nab the third 7-6 wining the tiebreaker 7-4. Florian Anderson locked up the victory with another three-set match beating Hayden Strittmatter 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
