Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. - For the first time since the season-opener the Dickinson women's lacrosse team found their way back into the win column as junior Liv Yeagle and sophomore Emma Wynne each recorded six points in a 20-14 Centennial Conference win over the visiting Ursinus College Bears on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field.
Dickinson had the first look at goal just 24-seconds in but Syd MacKeigan was denied by Alexa Machado. However, Ursinus would make their first opportunity count with Maeve Leonzi slipping a shot past Ella Marks. The Devils then found some success scoring on two of their next four shots with Yeagle and MacKeigan hitting the net for a 2-1 edge. After the visitors pulled even at 2-2, Liz Barroll setup Yeagle for her second before Delaney Herbert won the following draw and tallied unassisted. The Bears took advantage of a green card against DC to make it 4-3. However, the Devils would record six shots over the final five minutes with Machado making three saves, while Barroll (2) and Alex Goles capped a 3-0 run to end the first at 7-3.
Ursinus stopped the home charge with two goals inside the first four minutes of the second to trim the margin to 7-5. After Caroline Pirone forced a turnover from Gabrielle Liott she got the ball ahead to Riley Kuehn who found Yeagle for another goal. UC answered back just over a minute later, but then Regan Kawa finished off a rebound off a save from Machado to re-establish the three-goal cushion 9-6 with 6:23 left in the half. Once again Ursinus had an answer with Reilly Morgan burying the rock. However, Kuehn then found her shooting touch by scoring twice in the final two minutes giving DC an 11-7 edge at the break.
Machado was extremely busy early in the third as she had to make saves against Gabby Guadalupe, Barroll, and Herbert with less than four minutes off the clock. The Bears seemed to ride that momentum with Leonzi scoring and then forcing Marks into a stop a minute later denying Rachel Doubet. Dickinson would complete the clear and then watch Wynne find Kuehn for the team's 12th marker of the day. Ursinus pulled within two at 12-10 with tallies from Julia McCann and Morgan, but Wynne answered back with two of her own to send the game to the fourth at 14-10 DC.
The Red and White added on immediately to start the final period with Yeagle burying the rock twice on Machado with just 1:12 off the clock. The Bears did not want to go away quietly however as three different players bested Marks to cut the deficit to 16-13 still with 10:43 remaining. On the ensuing draw, Herbert controlled the ball cleanly and hit Wynne with a nice dish down the middle of the field where she took care of the rest beating the keeper for the 17-13 edge. Dickinson would just continue to build on as Wynne, Parker, and Yeagle each added one more to their ledgers to set the 20-14 result.
