COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Dickinson women's soccer team made the six-hour trip to Columbus for a non-conference fixture against the Capital University Comets. Unfortunately, for the Red and White a 77th-minute marker by Aaliyah Brletic pushed the home side past the Devils 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.
The first shot of the match came in the 15th-minute when Grace Estes had an attempt pushed aside by
Sophia Kavulich. Then, three minutes later Madeline Woodruff tested Kavulich, but the DC keeper was up to the task. Dickinson finally worked their way into the attacking third during the 28th-minute as
Meg Tate let a shot go at Lauren White, but the goalie was there for the stop.
Lauren Bracken and
Maddie St. Amand each added a chance in the final 15 minutes of the half, but neither player could solve White sending the match to the break.
Both keepers were called upon inside the opening ten minutes of the second-half, but St. Amand was stopped by White and Catherine Zugaro was told no by Kavulich. The Comets got shots from Avery Hart in the 72nd that missed, before four minutes later Woodruff found Brletic for the finish and the 1-0 edge. Dickinson went in search of an equalizer over the last ten minutes, but
Emma Cooney missed the target and
Lexie Greene was denied by White to close out the clean sheet.
