YORK, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team fought hard all afternoon, but ultimately dropped their third-straight one-goal decision falling 1-0 on the road at York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference clash.
The Red and White supplied the early pressure with
Maddie St. Amand being turned aside by Jacqueline Keogh in the sixth-minute, before
Katie Vassilakos fired wide less than a minute later. York got their first look at frame with 8:16 off the clock when Erin Snyder was stopped by Devils keeper
Sophia Kavulich. The match went another ten minutes prior to seeing another shot as
Meg Tate missed the mark. The Spartans had three of the final four attempts in the half with
Sarah Cudmore forcing a save from Keogh in the 33rd. However, none of the chances got past the keepers sending the match to the break at 0-0.
YCP found the back of the net with 4:27 off the clock in the second as Alyssa Russell jumped on a loose ball outside the box and beat Kavulich for the 1-0 lead. Dickinson's first crack at goal came in the 69th when Tate got off a shot that rang the crossbar over the head of Keogh. The Spartans went in search of an insurance marker during the 72nd and 74th when Kavulich denied both Sabrina McGuigan and Riley Long respectively. The Red and White spent the remainder of the period in the attacking third getting off the last seven shots of the match. With Keogh being called into action in the 82nd when she turned aside Cudmore and again with 88:21 off the clock stopping a header from
Lexie Greene off a corner. St. Amand had one last chance to pick up a tie, but her offering went wide with one second left.
