Devils Blanked by No 14 Generals

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Dickinson defense was under siege all afternoon as they allowed 26 shots (11 on goal) to the host and 14th-ranked Washington and Lee University, while only recording three (zero on goal) as the Generals earned a 3-0 non-conference win on Saturday afternoon.

W&L was on the attack right from the start as they recorded four shots inside the opening two minutes with Kailey Fitzgerald finishing off a pass from Betty Boatwright. The home side tallied three more shots, forcing Devils keeper Saige Stevens into one save over the following five minutes. Dickinson had two of their three shots late in the first with Katie Marthins firing wide, while Becca Woods had an attempt blocked by the defense sending the game to the second.

The Generals outshot the Red and White six to zero in the second period scoring twice thanks to Peyton Tysinger and Boatwright to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

W&L recorded seven of the eight shots during the third with Stevens tasked with making three saves to hold the score where it was. Malena Malka Goldman was able to fire the Devils final shot of the game, but it went wide.

In the fourth there would be no more scoring, but Stevens was busy once again making four more stops in the period.
