HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Dickinson men's soccer team and Haverford College combined for five goals in the second-half, including a brace for
Tyson Burling to help the Red Devils claim a 3-2 win over the Fords in the Centennial Conference opener for both sides.
The two sides traded chances in the opening ten minutes with Alex Millones having his attempt blocked by the defense and
Ethan Jarden sailing one wide of keeper Dylan Ioffreda. It would be the Fords who forced the first save of the match when Paul-Andre Coulibaly had a shot pushed away by
Andrew Kempe in the 19th. Kempe remained busy making three more saves denying Andrew Fritz (30th, 45th) and Liam O'Malley (36th), but not conceding as the game went to the half 0-0.
Dickinson finally tasked Ioffreda with a stop when
Cole Jennings let a shot fly with 49:24 off the clock. After the home side had the next two shots it was DC who broke through in the 62nd when Jarden played a ball into
Luke Beiles for the finish and the 1-0 lead. The Devils went for a second marker 13-seconds later, but Ioffreda stopped Jarden. Chances for
Chaz Smith in the 71st and Jarden during the 72nd went by the wayside leading to the eventual equalizer for Max Mouer at the 75:44 mark. However, Dickinson had a response seven minutes later whenÂ
Galil Cohen setup Burling for his first of the day. The Fords did not go away quietly though as Tomas Ascoli buried an unassisted tally for the tie in the 87th. DC was determined not to head back to Carlilse without all three points when Smith hit Burling for his second and the match winner at the 87:15 mark.Â
