CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson men's soccer got a first-half equalizer from
Ethan Jarden, but then played a majority of the second period down a man allowing the visiting Lebanon Valley College to escape Miller Memorial Field with a 2-1 non-conference win on Wednesday evening.
The visitors were out on the front foot early, as they scored on their first shot of the match when Aaron Weitzel played a fantastic one-touch pass to Peter Foerster who beat
Andrew Kempe for the lead just four minutes in. Anderson Velozwong attemped to make it 2-0 over ten minutes later, but this time Kempe was up to the task. It took the Devils over 25 minutes to record a shot as Jarden missed high in the 26th. However, Jarden did cash in three minutes later slipping a shot by Dalton Fitterling for the equalizer. Fitterling would be called upon two more times before the end of the half denying both
Luke Beiles and
Nicky Williams to leave it at 1-1 heading to the break.
Dickinson applied the early pressure to the LVC defense with
Tyson Burling getting a pair of chances at Fitterling's goal, unfortunately, none of the attempts bothered the Dutchmen goalie. LVC tested new DC keeper
Alexander Henrich during the 50th minute when Weitzel had his shot stopped. However, in the 53rd the match would take a major turn as Henrich came out towards the midline to play a loose ball, unfortunately the ball slipped past him leading to a breakaway for the LVC striker. That resulted in
Andrew McSlarrow dragging down the player from behind leading to a red card. Each team recorded a shot over the ensuing five minutes with Weitzel and
Cole Jennings firing wide. LVC netted the eventual game-winner with 66:05 off the clock as Nathan Prex chipped a shot over the rushing Henrich.
Nick Potter then took over between the sticks and immediately had to turn aside Zach Reed. Dickinson had chances from
Saul Iwowo, Burling, and Jennings over the final ten minutes, but did not cause Fitterling to make a save.
