CARLISLE, Pa. – First-year keeper
Emma Burrows made her first collegiate start, and classmate
Katey Van Kirk played the final 30 minutes as the Dickinson women's soccer team posted a 3-0 non-conference clean sheet over visiting Arcadia University on Wednesday night at Miller Memorial Field.
Dickinson began the match on the attack as
Katie Vassilakos rang the post just 2:20 in, before burying a beautiful cross from
Meg Tate after a nice pass by
Sarah Hughes past Knights keeper Abigail Fuchs 22-seconds later. The Red and White kept the pressure up forcing two more stops out of Fuchs as she turned aside
Emma Cooney and Vassilakos, while Tate ripped a shot wide in the 25th. Arcadia finally got their first look at frame with 29:47 off the clock when Burrows denied Amanda Thaler. Burrows had to make another save five minutes later knocking aside an attempt from Kylee Shea. That stop woke the Devils attack back up as Tate hit
Sarah Cudmore to make it 2-0, prior to Tate adding one herself from
Lexie Greene for the 3-0 advantage at half.
Arcadia tried to pull one back eight minutes in, but Thaler sailed it over the head of Burrows. Dickinson had three more shots by
Lauren Bracken,
Allison Cudmore, and
Sophia Elguera unfortunately none of them came close to testing new Knights keeper Jordan Polen who took over to start the half.
Maddie St. Amand recorded the final shot by either side in the 73rd minute, but missed the target. At the other end of the pitch Van Kirk was rather bored as she did not see a shot come her way once she took over between the sticks for the Devils.
