CARLISLE, Pa. - Dickinson women's soccer senior forward
Meg Tate netted a goal in each half, while first-year
Ellie Nordwind picked up her first collegiate marker as the Red and White knocked off Ursinus College by a scoreline of 3-0 in a Centennial Conference fixture on Saturday afternoon at Miller Memorial Field.
Ursinus put early pressure on Devils keeper
Sophia Kavulich as she was tasked with making saves against Alex Chalmers in the fifth minute and Izzy Dalesandro three minutes later. The Red and White thought they had the lead with 11:07 off the clock when
Katie Vassilakos had a shot blocked by the defense. The ball then rolled out to
Jessica Kiefer who had her attempt cleared off the line by Bears goalie Kaela Frenchman. After Kavulich posted her third save of the half, Dickinson got on the board when Tate finished off a nice pass from
Emily Dunkel. DC kept up the attack with
Sarah Hughes and Nordwind forcing stops from Frenchman, before
Allie Charnas setup Nordwind for her first and a 2-0 halftime lead.Â
The Devils grabbed their third marker of the match with their opening shot of the half with
Charlotte Glancey hitting Tate for the tally. Dickinson thought they had made it four through Glancey, but Frenchman was able to tip the ball over the crossbar in the 54th.
Eileen Sweeney and Tate would also record shots for the home side in the second period, however, Frenchman was up to the task on both occasions to close the match at 3-0.
