BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team posted a .329 attack percentage and recorded 21 aces on Saturday afternoon to claim their third-straight win by knocking off the Bryn Mawr College Owls 3-0 in Centennial Conference action at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
The home side got off to a great start as a kill each from Elise Perry and Micah Sheppard made it 5-1.
Alexa Barowski,
Emma Popham and Mathilde Verbitskky helped to pull DC back to within 7-6, before two aces from
Grace Coccagna as well as three scores each by
Amelia Kim and Barowski capped a 9-0 outburst to take a 15-7 advantage. A bad service for Coccagna stalled the run for a second, but then a trio of Barowski aces along with a pair of kills for Kim accounted for seven of the next eight points to open up a 23-9 lead. Five plays later
Ann Marie Patterson put home a set-clinching ace for the 25-11 win.
Dessie Anne Nietert, Patterson and Popham got the Devils off to a strong start as they took an 8-3 lead. Anna Dravk, Emma Loller and Perry grabbed three of the next five, before the duo of
Iona Nelson and
Eliette Whittaker ripped off a 7-1 run to go up by double-digits 17-7. Loller and Perry helped the Owls to keep the margin at ten 22-12. However, Dickinson allowed them to get no closer as
Avery Lewis (ace), Popham and Verbitsky tallied three straight to claim the frame 25-12.Â
Two Perry kills and a pair of DC miscues left BMC ahead 4-2 to kickoff the third. The Red and White then seized control as two Kathryn Arcara aces and kills from both Nelson and Nietert brought the Devils to the front at 14-6. The Owls battled back to within 14-11, but then
Cassidy Davis,
Camille Dofiles and Kim embarked on an 8-0 romp to go ahead 22-11. A few points later kills by
Jessica Currie and Nietert ended the match 25-13.
