CARLISLE, Pa. - The fifth time was indeed the charm for the Dickinson men's soccer team as the Red and White claimed their first Centennial Conference win on Saturday night by knocking off the visiting McDaniel College Green Terror by a 2-1 scoreline at Miller Memorial Field.
The first shots of the game for each side resulted in markers as
Ethan Jarden found
Saul Iwowo for the finish past Austin Heid in the eighth-minute, while just over a minute later AJ Reta dropped off a beautiful pass to AJ Nordone who put a shot just out of the diving reach of
Alexander Henrich to level things at 1-1. Dickinson went right back on the attack off the ensuing kickoff with
Cole Jennings being denied not once but twice by Heid keeping the score locked into the 30th. Then, with 34:17 off the clock Jarden played in a corner from the right-side that found the head of
Mack Moore who nodded the ball past Heid to make it 2-1. McDaniel got one final chance before the break to find an equalizer, but Jared Edge missed over the head of Henrich to end the period.
The opening ten-plus minutes of the second-half went by without a shot until Jarden called upon Heid once again at the 58:33 mark. Dickinson continued to keep the pressure up with
Tyson Burling, Jarden and Jennings each recording a shot, unfortunately, none of them forced Heid to make a save. The Green Terror tallied the final opportunity of the match in the 88th-minute when Chase Osborn had a shot snuffed out by the Devils backline to preserve the win.
