SCRANTON, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team return to action on Saturday afternoon still in search of their first win of the 2023-2024 campaign. Unfortunately, for the Red and White they were unable to overcome the host University of Scranton as the Royals secured a 174-88 non-conference win at the Byron Recreation Center.
The day began with the team of
Nolan Chenot,
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi,
Henry Lease and
James Wright taking second with a time of 3:42.89, while the group comprised of
Jack Engel,
Paul Florio,
Aidan Keillor and
Aaron Stern posted a 3:53.44 for fifth.
Alex Kanard put forth a strong effort in the 1000-yard freestyle by getting to the wall in 10:29.98 for second, followed by
Ben Lilly in fourth who clocked in at 10:58.57.
Dickinson took up spots two and three during the 200-yard freestyle thanks to the work of
Daniel Vasquez (1:50.43) and
Daulton Kendall (1:50.57).
Benjamin Brandt also took part in the event claiming sixth with a 1:56.49.
Colloca-Bianchi earned second in the 100-yard backstroke by clocking in at 56.69, beating out Wright in fourth (57.60).
Lease secured the Devils first win of the day with a 1:02.44 during the 100-yard breaststroke, while Keillor hit the wall in 1:05.31.
Two DC athletes did battle in the 200-yard butterfly with
Andrew Kelley landing in third thanks to a 2:09.82, followed by Florio (2:10.83) for fifth.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Chenot posted a 23.20 for second and Stern clocked in at 24.06 (4th).
A trio of Devils were involved in the 100-yard freestyle with Kendall (2nd - 49.25), Kanard (4th - 51.39) and Engel (6th - 53.40) all taking part.
The second Dickinson win of the meet came during the 200-yard backstroke when Colloca-Bianchi clocked in at 2:00.32, while Vasquez completed the Top-3 with a 2:03.68.
Lease was the highest finishing Devil for the 200-yard breaststroke landing in second after hitting the wall in 2:20.91. The duo of Florio and Stern finished in fifth (2:30.30) and sixth (2:38.42) respectively.Â
Wright locked up another second-place result for the Red and White in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:57.04, followed by Keillor (5:11.19) and Brandt (5:17.51).Â
It is hard to get any closer than Chenot and Kelley were during the 100-yard butterfly as the pair finished in a tie for third posting identical 56.77s. Engel occupied sixth with a 59.61.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Kanard claimed second at 2:07.32 and Lilly seized fifth in 2:18.08.
The team of Chenot, Kendall, Lease and Wright earned second for the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:29.96, which held off the other Dickinson group of Colloca-Bianchi, Engel, Keillor and Stern (1:35.04) for third.
