CARLISLE, Pa. - Sparked by double-digit performances by
Isaiah Edmond,
Anthony Goeb,
Martin Mann and
Luke Spellman and a solid 56.3% shooting beyond the arc the Dickinson men's basketball team claimed a key 77-61 Centennial Conference win on Wednesday night at the Kline Center.
The Mules were out in front early as Dan Gaines dropped seven points and Luke Gordos added a jumper to make it 9-4 with five minutes off the clock. A triple by
Brandon Wiercinski and two each from Goeb and Spellman pulled DC even at 11-11 with 7:09 off the clock. A 6-2 stretch my the visitors made it 17-13, but then the Devils went on a tear as
Aaron Bailey, Goeb, Spellman and Wiercinski led a 13-0 home run to send them to the front 26-17 with 7:43 remaining. Mann supplied the only DC offense during a 9-2 Mules push to close within 28-26 inside the final four minutes. The Devils knocked down three more try's in the frame with
Andrew Gostovich,
Skyler Venezia and Edmond all hitting from deep to give the Devils a 39-30 edge, before Gostovich stuck a buzzer-beating jumper for the 41-30 halftime advantage.
Goeb began the second with a pair of jumpers, while Mann added a layup to push the margin to a dozen at 47-35 three minutes in. Four of the next five went to DC, before Gordos knocked home two at the charity stripe to make it 51-38 two minutes later. Dickinson answered back with a 10-2 charge as Edmond, Goeb and Spellman all recorded points during the run extending the margin to 61-40 still with 12 minutes left. It was then Muhlenberg's turn to mount a gallop as they tallied ten of the next dozen to cut the deficit to 64-50 at the 12:19 mark. Two jumpers each from Goeb and Mann helped DC push the lead to 20 (72-52) with 4:02 remaining. The Red and White would not let the Mules back into things as
B.J. McNeil, Bailey and Mann all scored during the remainder of the game to finish off the contest at 77-61.
