CARLISLE, Pa. - Sparked by a pair of 20-plus point performances from
Isaiah Edmond and
Martin Mann the Dickinson men's basketball team collected their second straight win with a dominating 86-70 win over the visitors from Washington College on Saturday afternoon at the Kline Center. With the win the Red and White put themselves firmly in the mix for the sixth and final spot in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament.
Dickinson came storming out of the gates with buckets from
Anthony Goeb, Edmond and Mann giving them an 11-3 with just over five minutes gone. Kedrick Frink and Ryan Lang led a 6-2 push over the next three minutes for for the visitors to close within 13-9. Free throws by
Skyler Venezia and Mann coupled by baskets from
Aaron Bailey,
Luke Spellman and
Brandon Wiercinski opened the lead out to 22-15 with 8:06 remaining. After five straight for the Shoremen, Edmond and Spellman responded for the Devils to make it 28-22 at the 14:44 mark. The two sides split the next eight points, before a triple by Edmond and a slam on a fastbreak from Goeb opened it up to double-figures 37-26. However, in the final 40-seconds Frink netted four points to give DC a 37-30 edge at the break.
The opening dozen points of the second period were shared by the two teams leaving the hosts ahead 43-36 with two minutes off the clock. After a jumper by Frink, cut the margin to five the home home team answered with eight of the next ten on scores from Edmond, Goeb, and Mann to open up the largest lead to that point at 51-40. Six points out of the hand of Frink pulled the Shoremen to within 52-46, but then a pair of Bailey layups and three Mann foul shots allowed DC to push it to 59-52. Dickinson continued to pile it on as Wiercinski stepped behind the arc to knock down a triple, before Bailey, Edmond and Mann chipped in on a 13-2 run to extend the advantage to 72-54 with 5:01 remaining. Jason Zielinski drilled a pair of triples to aide an 11-3 charge by the Shoremen to close within 77-65 at the 17:06 mark. The Red and White tallied their final nine points of the game at the charity line thanks to
Randy Shephard, Edmond, and Spellman to keep WAC at bay and secure the 86-70 win.
