CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Dickinson field hockey team collected a late fourth quarter goal from
Maggie Carson to even things at 1-1. However, less than a minute later the host Washington College would find the game-winner as the Shorewomen claimed a 2-1 Centennial Conference win on Saturday night at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.
- It took eight minutes to see the first shot of the game as Maggie Carson had her attempt stopped by Charlotte Schurman off a feed from Nicole Uebele off a penalty corner.
- Just over a minute later Tara Radebaugh found Natalie Watkinson for the finish past Taylor Morrow.
- Morrow was then called into action just before the end of the period as she turned away Madison Maguire.
- Dickinson was on the attack early as the Red and White earned two corners leading to shots from both Malena Malka Goldman and Erin Liggio, but Schurman was up to the task.
- Washington then made their way into the offensive end and forced Morrow to deny the trio of Emma Campbell, Samantha McMahon and Watkinson.Â
- With just over a minute left until the break Abby Hill unleashed a shot towards cage, but once against Schurman was there for the stop.
- Following an early chance for WAC the majority of the frame was all Dickinson with Sophia Pereira, Natalie Slusser, Becca Woods, Carson and Liggio all letting shots fly with Schurman recording three more saves to keep it at just 1-0.
- A last minute corner played in by Kendal Thomson led to Kat Esposito being stopped by Morrow sending the game to the final period.
- The first three minutes saw Campbell and Esposito each record a shot with Morrow having to add one more save to her ledger.
- Dickinson added three more shots from Megan McClure, Pereira and Slusser as Schurman was called into action once.
- However, the Devils persistence would finally pay off when Carson collected a loose ball in the circle and fired it back past Schurman to tie the game at the 54:26 mark.Â
- Unfortunately, it would be Washington who got the last laugh as Radebaugh hit Campbell for the finish beyond the reach of Morrow to set the 2-1 final.
