Devils Swept by Bullets at the Battlefield

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - After a big road conference win on Saturday against Washington College, the Dickinson volleyball team set their sets on local rival Gettysburg College on Wednesday night as they attempted to continue to inch towards a Centennial Conference postseason berth. Unfortunately, for the Red and White it was the Bullets who collected a 3-0 win inside of Bream Gymnasium.

  • Early scores for Alexa Barowski and Willow Palmer had the visitors hanging tough early down 5-3.
  • Kills from Lora Flynn, Mallie Thomas and Barowski, coupled with Jessica Currie, Amelia Kim and Eliette Whittaker blocks pushed DC ahead 9-8.
  • However, Erin Gonzalez, Catherine Holtz, Mary Huegel and Alycen Radolovic mounted a 13-3 outburst to take a 21-12 advantage.
  • Barowski and Thomas got the Devils to within 23-15, but Gianna Galli and Radolovic tallied the next two (25-15).

  • Things went back and forth early as Emery Fishbach, Barowski, Kim and Thomas had things locked at 8-8.
  • A Clare Farrell kill sparked a 9-3 run for the hosts that was closed out by a Holtz kill to make it 17-11.
  • Dickinson tried to battle back with kills for Fishbach, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker trimming the deficit to five at 22-17.
  • A pair of Huegel scores helped GC to wrap up a 25-17 win.
Template - 3rd Set
  • Two Avery Butcher aces, along with points from Barowski, Kim and Thomas made it 7-3 DC.
  • Despite a pair of Kim kills and a solo for Barowski, the Bullets used the trio of Gonzalez, Huegel and Radolovic to pull even at 11-11.
  • The duo of Fishbach and Thomas edged the Red and White ahead 15-14, but seven of the next nine went the way of the Bullets allowing them to reclaim a 21-17 lead.
  • Dickinson did not go away however as Grace Coccagna joined Fishbach and Kim to come all the way back to 24-24.
