LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson football team got a pair of second quarter touchdowns to take a 14-10 lead into the break on Saturday afternoon at Shadek Stadium. However, the Red and White were outscored 13-0 over the final 30 minutes to allow Franklin & Marshall to reclaim possession on the coveted Conestoga Wagon with a 23-14 win.
- Dickinson's best chance to find points would come on a drive that started on the F&M36 thanks to a 14-yard punt return from Bobby Markey off a kick by Laurence Miller. A run for Diante Ball and pass by Presley Egbers to Frederik Fjeldseth left DC looking at 4th-and-6. Unfortunately, Egbers was unable to connect with Kellen Boyer to give the rock back to the Diplomats.
- On the ensuing home drive, Ty Tremba found Jack O'Hearen twice to advance just across the midfield stripe to the DC46. On first down Domani White tossed Aaron Rascoe for a three-yard loss, before two passes by Tremba moved them one yard forcing a Miller punt.
- To begin the period F&M was setup at their own seven-yardline. Tremba then started an aerial attack finding O'Hearen for 48, before linking up with Michael Poruban and Rascoe to push up to the DC16. That was when he hit Brady Aselton for the game's opening score (Miller kick).
- Dickinson then went in search of a response as three carries by Ball and a 14-yard strike to Markey had the Devils on the DC43 still facing a fourth-and-eight. Kieran O'Neill would come out to punt, but would instead find Justin Rocha for a 20-yard pass to the F&M37. From then on it was the "Ball Show" the rest of the march as he would carry four more times ultimately ending up in the endzone to tie the game (O'Neill kick) with 5:41 left.
- The Diplomats would use a good combination of both runs for Aidan Hutchison and Rascoe along with Tremba passes to move down to the DC17. Fortunately, the Devils defense would stiffen up thanks to a tackle by Valdemar Enghave and pass breakup for James Basilii to force a 34-yard Miller field goal making it 10-7.
- However, the Red and White only needed three plays to take the lead with Egbers hitting Rocco DiRico for a 68-yard TD (O'Neill kick) to give the visitors a 14-10 edge at the break. Â
- The home side got the ball to start things and Tremba used passes of 24 and eight along with a DC pass interference penalty to get down to the DC14. Once again the defense would hold their own with the group of Joaquin Acuna, John Prochniak, Alex Sulin and Enghave forcing a fourth down on the DC11. Miller would knock home a 28-yard field goal to make it 14-13, but a penalty for illegal formation negated the points and kept the F&M drive alive. One play later Tremba would scamper in from six out to grab a 16-14 edge (Miller kick).
- Dickinson again went in search of an answer and using passes to DiRico and Fjeldseth coupled with a pair of Ball rushes had DC in business on the F&M29. After a 16-yard reception by Markey push things down to the 13 that wsa were the Devils offense stalled out setting up a 24-yard field try on 4th-and-four from the seven. However, Matt Hanna broke through the Devils line and got a hand on it to prevent the points, while Kyle Evancho picked up the loose ball running it out to the F&M42 ending the frame.
- A run by Ball and pass to Markey had Dickinson on the move trying to get back into the game, but Egbers would be picked off by Evancho to end the threat.
- On the ensuing Diplomats drive that began on their own 13, Tremba was sacked by Julien Devlin and Ojoo Macapiyo to start things off, before linking up with O'Hearen for 20, Aselton for four and Gary Lews for 32 advancing down to the DC30. Tremba then rushed for 16, prior to hitting O'Hearen for a 14-yard TD (Miller kick).
- Dickinson could not get anything going the rest of the game allowing the Diplomats to close out the win.
