GRANTVILLE, Ohio – The Dickinson women's squash team got their 2024-25 season off to a bang on Saturday night overcoming a not full roster to secure a 6-3 win over the host Denison University inside the Mitchell Center.
Inside the Match
Dickinson, who was only able to field seven players due to injury, had to default the bottom two flights, but were able to secure wins in six of seven matches played. In the top two flights, sophomores Anne Leakey and Katie Herring made light work of their opponents, picking up three set victories. First-year Gabi El-Masry was victorious in her first career collegiate match, with a four-set victory in the third flight. In the match of the day, Victoria Savelius came storming back after being down 2-1, to complete the comeback with a strong fifth set winning 11-4. Junior Anna O'Connor only dropped 3 total points in her three-set victory, while Thea Hegde got the job done in the sixth flight winning in four sets
