CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's soccer team kept their historic season going on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win over the visiting Buffalo State University in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament in front of a raucous and packed house at Miller Memorial Field.
- It would take until the eighth minute to see the first shots of the match as Nicholas Dwamena, Westin Fryberger and Saul Iwowo each had an attempt blocked by the defense.
- With 15:40 off the clock Buffalo State tallied their first chance when Manu Prieto was canceled out by the Devils backline.
- Things would go over ten minutes, before either side was able to get another look as Ethan Jarden and Iwowo were not able to test Shae Wirt.Â
- Prieto had one last look with 54-seconds left, but missed wide left of DC keeper Aidan George.
- The Bengals came out firing away tallying the opening five attempts with Aney Djadou, Tapiwa Mushonga and Prieto supplying the chances.
- Luke Beiles, Dwamena and Iwowo each recorded a shot for the Devils in an eight-minute span, unfortunately, none of them bothered Wirt.
- However, in the 72nd minute, Dickinson did find a breakthrough as Johnny Diederich played a ball over the top of the defense to Iwowo who brought it down and danced around a defender before slipping a shot beyond Wirt (1-0).
- Four minutes later, BSU forced the first save out of either keeper when George denied Prieto. George then repeated the act during the 84th to preserve the 1-0 lead.
- The Red and White put the match away with 85:39 off the clock as Iwowo charged up the right side and played a pass to Connor Uitterdijk who then found Dwamena wide open at the top of the six-yard box for the finish to set the 2-0 final.
