ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Dickinson women's volleyball team entered their season finale on Saturday hoping to play the role of spoiler for the host Muhlenberg College as a win for the Mules would send them to Centennial Conference playoffs, while a loss would have them on the outside. The Red and White would ultimately erase a 1-0 deficit to claim a 3-1 win inside Memorial Hall.
- Dickinson got off to a great start as two aces for Grace Coccagna and a kill by Emery Fishbach helped to make it 8-3.
- Then a kill put away by Christina Marcin sparked a 12-1 run that also included a string of five straight aces for Chloe Gaglione to give the home side a 15-9 edge.
- The group of Alexa Barowski, Amelia Kim, Mallie Thomas and Eliette Whittaker all recorded kills to pull DC within 18-15.
- Following three in a row for the Mules, Kim and Thomas notched kills while Lora Flynn added a block to chip the margin to one (21-20).
- Four of the ensuing five points went to MC with a DC miscue ending the set (25-21).
- Barowski, Fishbach and Kim had the visitors out to a quick 5-2 lead.
- The trio of Olivia Bruno, Esmae Oehler and Gaglione helped the Mules to edge ahead 8-7.
- Things continued to go back and forth as three Kim kills and a solo by Barowski moved the Devils in front 13-10.
- After the Mules earned four straight, Barowski, Flynn, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker all tallied points for the Red and White to make it 22-17.Â
- Rachel Jacobs and Marcin trimmed two off the margin, before Kim pounded down the final two kills of the frame (25-20).Â
- Things were tight early with Jessica Currie, Barowski, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker staking DC to a slim 7-6 edge.
- Whittaker put down a kill to start a 9-2 charge for the Devils with Avery Butcher, Kim and Whittaker contributing to make it 16-8.
- An ace for Abigail Oswari and kills put away by Jacobs and Marcin cut the deficit to 19-16.
- Dickinson closed things out by taking the final six points thanks to Butcher, Currie, and Kim (25-16).Â
- Muhlenberg began the set with the 6-3 edge thanks to Oehler and Marcin notching kills.
- Dickinson then rallied to take an 11-8 lead on scores for Avery Lewis, Currie, Kim, Thomas and Whittaker.
- The set of runs continued as Oehler kicked off an 8-2 push capped by an Oehler ace to make it 17-12 MC.
- An ace from Camille Dofiles and kills for Fishbach and Thomas tried to keep the Devils within reach at 21-15.
- That was exactly what would happen as six kills from Kim and an ace for Thomas helped the Red and White to finish off a 25-23 win.
