SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Dickinson College women's track and field team competed at Susquehanna University in their Early Season Multi and Invitational inside the Robert I. Estill Field House. The Red and White set two school records during the course of the meet in the sprint medley relay and the pentathlon.
Sprints
Three Devils earned Top-10 slots for the 60m with Erin Olsavsky pacing the group in second with an 8.08, followed by Maddie Kyle and Emily Chaine in sixth (8.34) and seventh (8.38) respectively. Catarina Acosta landed in 22nd thanks to an 8.83. With hurdles added to that distance four other ladies went to the track with Annie Leder and Leah Biwott placing fourth (9.79) and fifth (9.98). Lily Cusa and Lily Swain ran together posting times of 10.67 (10th) and 10.95 (11th).
Dickinson took up sixth through eighth during the 200m thanks to the trio of Chaine (27.76), Abbe Kitchin (27.80) and Maddie Brown (27.98). Kyle (11th - 28.71), Cusa (16th - 29.40), Morgan Mooradian (17th - 29.43) and Emma Dice (26th - 30.99) also competed in the event as well.
Two members of the Red and White collected Top-5 finishes for the 400m with Kitchin claiming second (1:02.72), while Marley Kurey grabbed fourth (1:03.72). Cusa (1:07.77), Mooradian (1:08.52) and Dice (1:09.88) locked down slots nine, ten and eleven.
Distance
Amiyah Priebe nabbed the first win of the meet for Dickinson by hitting the line in 2:24.25 during the 800m, followed by Sophia Kovalski in fifth (2:30.92). Kurey rounded out the Top-10 with a time of 2:33.58. Devon Culberson (16th - 2:40.24), Lauren Scott (18th - 2:43.36) and Jenna Kerns (19th - 3:02.03) finished off the Devils group for the race.
Just Kovalski and Scott did battle in the mile run as Kovalski clocked in at 5:39.68 for the victory. Scott also earned a podium spot by hitting the stripe in 6:05.18 (3rd).
The 3000m rounded out the distance events for the day and saw another DC win thanks to Elizabeth Barbash and her 10:54.03. Kerns and Rebecca Roberts finished in fifth (11:58.39) and sixth (12:19.06). Ellie Drescher was the last Devil to compete claiming tenth with a 12:58.36.
Relays
In the 4x400m, the team of Brown, Kitchin, Priebe and Swain picked up another Dickinson victory by stopping the clock at 4:24.54, while the other DC unit with Culberson, Dice, Kyle and Mooradian earned third (4:39.39).
One of two record breaking moments for the Devils came during the sprint medley relay where the team comprised of Brown, Chaine, Olsavsky and Priebe posted a winning time of 4:17.45, which beat the previous school mark of 4:26.34 set back in January of 2003.
Special
Biwott competed in the pentathlon where her score of 2872 bested the record of 2730 which was set just last year in February by Sophia Kovatsis.
Field
Jenna Deep completed the podium for the weight throw by putting up a toss of 13.38m, followed right behind by Damien Labrada who dropped in at 13.16m. Acosta claimed 27th with a mark of 6.93m. The same trio went to work in the shot put as Labrada earned seventh (10.52m), while Deep and Acosta plopped down at 9.60m (12th) and 6.13m (29th) respectively.
Swain and Lexi Borecki each cleared 2.85m during the pole vault to nab ninth and tenth.
Mooradian posted a third-place finish for the high jump after getting over 1.48m. In the jump pit, Leder finished off the podium in the long jump with a mark of 5.42m, while Kyle hit the sand at 4.67m for ninth. Leder was the lone Devil in the triple jump taking fourth with a leap of 10.42m.
Next on the Track
The Red Devils now enjoy a month-long break before coming back to the track on January 18th at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic hosted by Catholic University starting at 10am.
