Hot Shooting Hounds Run Past Devils in Steel Club Title Game

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team saw their four game winning streak come to an end on Monday afternoon thanks to a hot-shooting Moravian University side as the Greyhounds shot above 50% from both the floor and beyond the arc en route to a 104-75 win over the Devils in the Championship Game of the Steel Club Classic at Johnston Hall.

  • The Greyhounds got out to a good start with Jametric Harris, Brave Haugh, Chad Kratzer and Michael Leonardo giving them a 13-6 edge with seven minutes gone.
  • Three points each from Cole Cosby and Joey Dopirak pulled the score to 15-12, before a 7-2 home run ending on a Porter Kelly triple made the score 22-14 at the 10:45 mark.
  • A layup for David Petrusev stopped the charge for a moment by treys by Leonardo (2) and Kelly extended the gap to 31-16.
  • However, the Devils battled back with a 9-0 run of their own on buckets for Isaiah Edmond, Ryan Leskauskas, Dopirak and Edmond leaving the score at 31-25 with less than four minutes to play.
  • The duo of Edmond and Petrusev kept DC close (36-31), but the Hounds collected eight of the final ten points to take a 44-33 advantage to the break.

  • The Red and White spent the first three minutes cutting the deficit under ten as Brandon Wiercinski hit from deep, while Juan Ruiz and Petrusev picked up two each making it 49-40.
  • Layups by Matt Smith, Edmond and Petruev kept the Devils offense going, unfortunately, three-pointers from Liam Cummiskey, Alex Dietz and Kratzer opened the Hounds lead to 63-48 with 11:30 left.
  • Matt Mahoney, Luis Ruiz and Petrusev each tallied for the Devils over the next couple of minutes, but the home team continued to have the answer as Dietz knocked down three triples and George Cutler added four of his own to push the margin to 20 (80-60) inside of seven minutes.
  • Edmond and Petrusev would contribute to Dickinson scoring six of the next nine points (83-66), before a 13-5 sprint by the Hound stretched the advantage to 96-71.
  • Dopirak and Edmond netted the visitors final points of the game, while a trey for Haugh just prior to the horn set the 104-75 final.
