PHILADELPHIA - The seven-seed Dickinson women's squash team put forth an outstanding effort on Friday afternoon at the College Squash Association Team Championships against the second-seed William Smith College. Unfortunately, it would not be enough as the Herons staved off the Red and White by a final of 5-4 inside the Specter Squash Center.

At the top spot
Amna Fayyaz dropped the first two games to Rafaela Albuja, before storming back to take the next three 13-11, 11-6 and 11-7 for the match. Right behind her at two
Anne Leakey traded the first four games with Laila Selim, prior to collecting an 11-7 win in the deciding fifth. Dickinson's third win of the day occurred at the fifth flight where
Thea Hegde dropped the opening game 12-10 to Jada Smith-Padmore, which was followed by a trio of triumphs for the Devil to claim the match. The lone shutout win for the Red and White was thanks to
Emerson Rains (9th) who blanked Brianna Lucero. Then, with the overall score tied at 4-4,
Katie Herring and Nathalie Sim took to the court to determine a match winner. Herring would jump out to a 1-0 lead, but Sim nabbed the next three to lockup the 5-4 win for the Herons.
Victoria Savelius (6th) collected two game wins, while
Cate Moll (7th) and
Ella Goldman (8th) each grabbed one game for the Devils in defeat.Â
