LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team continued their strong 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday morning by having three players earn All-Centennial Conference recognition as announced by the league office. Junior,
Clair Marion was tabbed for the First Team as well as being named the conference Defensive Player of the Year, while classmate
Caitlin Blackman and senior
Lindsey Hollenshead garnered Honorable Mention.
Marion, the native of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, appeared in and started 26 of 27 games for the Red and White this season. She led the Devils in points per game (17.5), steals per game (3.2) and assists per game (2.8), while ranking third in rebounds per game (5.0). Within the conference rankings, Marion led the way with her 3.2 steals and was second in ppg at 17.5 and free throw percentage (.815). On the season, she reached double-digits in 24 of 26 games played, including 20-plus points in ten games with a season-high 27 coming on January 6th in a 71-51 road win at Haverford College. Marion also pulled in ten rebounds in three games that all resulted in double-doubles: at Muhlenberg (20 pts, 10 rebs), at Ursinus (26 pts, 10 rebs) and at Swarthmore (22 pts, 10 rebs).
Blackman, the resident of Gainesville, Virginia, had another strong season for the Red and White starting in all 27 games. For the season she averaged 8.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.2 apg and 1.6 spg on just under 33 minutes played per contest. Blackman hit double-digits in eight games on the season with her season-high 17 happening twice in a victory over then No. 8 Smith College and in the Devils victory over Swarthmore College in the first round of the Centennial Conference tournament. She became a key performer for DC during the postseason racking up 30 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and five steals. That included her third collegiate double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in the 46-42 win over the Garnet.
Hollenshead, the native of Needmore, Pennsylvania, joined Blackman in starting all 27 games for Dickinson notching 9.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.0 spg during her 31 minutes played. She reached double-digits 12 times for the season and tallied three double-doubles versus McDaniel (14 pts, 10 rebs), Franklin & Marshall (15 pts, 10 rebs) and Washington (18 pts, 12 rebs). Hollenshead was also key distributor of the rock posting three or more assists in 13 games, with a season-high eight in a dominating 62-38 home conference win over the rival Franklin & Marshall. The lone senior was a threat on the defensive end of the floor as well racking up multiple steals in five games, including a pair of contests with five.
