Devils Compete at Plex Open in Reading

READING, Pa. – After a long day on Friday, a select group from the Dickinson women's indoor track and field team were in action on Saturday afternoon at the 2024 Plex Shootout hosted by Alvernia University.

Sprints
Eliza Gichner rounded out the Top-30 for the 60m with a time of 8.77. After hurdles came into play during the 60m two different DC athletes took to the track as Sophia Kovatsis hit the stripe in 9.82 for sixth, while Sylvie McMaken-Marsh ended just outside the Top-20 in 21st (10.76).

Emerlee Simons had a strong showing in the 200m claiming fifth place thanks to a time of 26.79.

Simons earned a podium spot during the 400m by taking second place clocking in at 1:00.57. Evelyn Swayze and Kaleigh Vitu posted times of 1:06.98 (22nd) and 1:08.89 (28th). 

Distance
A duo of Devils competed in the mile run as Rebecca Roberts and Leah Bell clocked in at 6:09.89 (22nd) and 6:28.59 (30th) respectively. The same two then returned to the track for the 800m with Roberts stopping the timer in 2:49.83, while Bell landed in 54th (2:55.76).

Meghan Higgins-Haas was the only member of the Red and White to take part in the 3000m posting a time of 11:25.11 for eighth-place.

Relay
Dickinson put forth one team for the 4x400m where they claimed sixth place by clocking in at 4:27.59.

Field
At the jump pit, Leah Biwott secured a Top-20 finish in the long jump as her mark of 4.59m was good for 17th, while Vitu had a solid outing finishing in 23rd (4.12m). The high jump saw Morgan Mooradian compete clearing 1.37m for 13th.

McMaken-Marsh was back in action during the pole vault clearing a height of 2.70 for a 14th-place finish.

A quartet of Devils were involved in the shot put with Damien Labrada posting a 10.60m toss to finish just outside the Top-10 in 11th. The pair of Claire Shearer and Jenna Deep also landed within the Top-20 at 13th (10.37m) and 19th (9.87m). Kovatsis had a go at it as well dropping her heave at 9.40m to claim 23rd.

Next on the Track
Dickinson will make their second trip of the season to Lancaster on Friday to participate in the Blue & White Invitational hosted by Franklin and Marshall College inside the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center beginning at 2pm.
