LANCASTER, Pa. - For the fourth straight time the Dickinson women's outdoor track and field team began their spring campaign by claiming victory at the Little Three Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall College at Sponaugle-Williamson Field.
Sprints
The 100m saw a "one-two" finish for the Devils as
Sara Penuela won the race with a time of 12.52, followed right behind by her sister
Mariana Penuela at 12.97.
Maddie Kyle rounded out the Top-5 by posting a 13.50, while
Eliza Gichner and
Catarina Acosta earned eighth (14.36) and tenth (14.67). As hurdles entered the fray, the Red and White had a solid output as well taking second through fifth thanks to
Darya Mikusova (15.83),
Sophia Kovatsis (16.63),
Naomi Alperin (17.28) and
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh (18.19).
The podium was full of Dickinson athletes for the 200m as S. Penuela grabbed her second win in 26.43, followed once again by M. Penuela (27.36) and
Emerlee Simons (27.56). Four other members were inside the Top-10: Kovatsis (5th - 28.55),
Evelyn Swayze (8th - 28.91), Kyle (9th - 28.92) and
Abbe Kitchin (10th - 29.05).
Maddie Brown (11th - 29.26),
Morgan Mooradian (14th - 30.06), Gichner (15th - 30.23), Alperin (16th - 30.45),
Kayleigh Vitu (17th - 30.93), McMaken-Marsh (18th - 30.95) and Acosta (22nd - 32.07) all competed as well.
It was another win for the Red and White during the 400m when Simons hit the stripe in 1:03.33. Brown (1:05.66), Swayze (1:06.21) and Kitchin (1:06.57) occupied spots four through six. Vitu rounded out the field in ninth at 1:09.47. When hurdles were put in front of the athletes Mikusova landed in second with a 1:08.25, while
Leah Biwott finish fifth (1:14.56).
Distance
Amiyah Priebe was the top athlete for the 800m clocking in at 2:30.19, followed two spots back by
Marley Kurey (2:35.84).
The 1500m saw
Myra Naqvi best the field with a time of 5:06.10, while
Breanna Franchak finished off the Top-5 at 5:28.27.
A pair of the DC athletes were involved in the 5000m with
Sammy Jo Barnes nabbing second in 18:37.33, followed by
Meghan Higgins-Haas in fifth (20:26.07).
Special
The 3000m steeplechase saw two members of the Red and White do battle as Priebe won the race with a 12:03.34 and
Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle collecting second (12:03.76).
Relays
The 4x100m unit seized third thanks to a 52.17. The Red and White had two teams take part in the 4x400m with the "A" squad clocking in at 4:20.23 for first and the "B" unit hitting the line in 4:38.12. Dickinson also claimed a win for the 4x800m after freezing the timer at 10:25.57.
Field
Three DC members were involved in the discus with
Damien Labrada winning the event after a toss of 32.04m, followed by
Abby Everett in second (31.54m) and
Jenna Deep (5th - 26.60m). Everett then grabbed the top slot for the hammer throw with a heave of 44.50m, while Deep (2nd - 40.07m),
Claire Shearer (4th - 34.95m) and Labrada (5th - 32.92m) rounded out the competing Devils. The same quartet took part in the shot put as Shearer won the competition at 10.46m, followed by Everett (2nd - 10.24m), Labrada (4th - 9.60m) and Deep (6th - 8.95m).
The pair of Deep and Kovatsis posted fourth (21.47m) and fifth (18.78m) place results for the javelin.
The pole vault saw McMaken-Marsh (4th - 2.58m) and Franchak (5th - 1.98m) compete for the Red and White.
At the jumping area, the duo of Mooradian and Biwott secured finishes of second (1.45m) and third (1.40m) respectively for the high jump. The long jump had a pair of Devils in the Top-3 as
Annie Leder won the event at 5.13m, while Biwott grabbed third (4.82m) and Vitu claimed eighth (4.17m). Leder then posted a second-place result in the triple jump thanks to a leap of 9.99m.

The Red and White return to action on Wednesday afternoon at 4pm for the York College of Pennsylvania Twilight Meet.
