ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Dickinson women's track and field team returned to action on Saturday afternoon with a bang as the Red and White won seven events in a strong showing at the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
Sprints
Two Devils earned Top-10 results for the 100m as
Maddie Kyle rounded out the Top-5 with 13.45, followed two spots later
Naomi Alperin posted a 13.60. Three other members were involved in the event with
Abbe Kitchin nabbing 13th (13.81),
Eliza Gichner finishing 17th (13.98) and
Morgan Mooradian (27th - 14.92). When hurdles were added to the mix
Darya Mikusova collected the win with a 15.66, while Alperin and
Leah Biwott grabbed fourth (17.03) and eighth (18.89).
Five Dickinson athletes went to the track during the 200m with a quartet of athletes landing inside the Top-10:
Sara Penuela (2nd - 25.75),
Emerlee Simons (5th - 26.34),
Mariana Penuela (7th - 26.99) and
Maddie Kyle (10th - 27.89).
Maddie Brown just missed the Top-10 hitting the line in eleventh (27.91).Â
Simons and Brown then earned Top-5 results for the 400m clocking in at 1:00.48 (3rd) and 1:02.55 (5th). Kitchin and
Evelyn Swayze finished within a second of each other with marks of 1:04.80 (10th) and 1:05.60 (11th).
Kayleigh Vitu got involved as well securing 15th (1:08.17). At the same distance, but with hurdles in the mix Mikusova bested the competition with a time of 1:01.81.
Distance
Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle posted a solid effort in the 800m hitting the stripe in 2:27.65 for second. The other three athletes the did battle at that distance saw
Meghan Higgins-Haas,
Marley Kurey and
Leah Bell collecting 14th (2:45.97), 15th (2:46.31) and 18th (2:51.27) respectively.Â
The Red and White grabbed another victory in the 1500m where
Amiyah Priebe won the event with a 4:47.55, while Kratovil-Lavelle finished off the Top-3 in 4:54.67. Higgins-Haas wrapped up the Top-10 (5:11.23) and Kurey closed out the Top-20 (5:32.75). Bell posted a 5:59.71 for 29th.
Sammy Jo Barnes was the lone DC athlete for the 5000m taking third after hitting the line in 18:28.58.
Relays
Dickinson put three teams in each of the races with the "A" unit for the 4x100m winning the race at 49.50, followed by the "B" (6th - 53.35) and "C" (7th - 54.69). The "A" team in the 4x400m earned the victory with a 4:02.68, while the "B" squad nabbed third (4:20.95) and the "C" crew took up ninth (4:37.34).
Field
The Devils filled the podium for the shot put as
Abby Everett won the event with a toss of 11.38m, followed by
Claire Shearer in second (10.68m) and
Damien Labrada (3rd - 10.21m).
Jenna Deep collected fifth thanks to a 9.48m. At the discus area, Everett finished in second (39.35m) and Deep nabbed eighth (30.73m). In the hammer cage, Everett rounded out the Top-3 on a heave of 42.85m, while Deep landed in fourth (40.43m). Labrada earned 12th on a launch of 35.00m.
At the jump pit, Mooradian claimed ninth in the high jump with a leap of 1.37m. S. Penuela seized another win for the Devils during the long jump dropping in at 5.45m, followed in the Top-10 by her sister M. Penuela (4th - 5.12m) and
Annie Leder (8th - 4.70m). Vitu also competed finishing in 19th after landing at 3.95m.
