CARLISLE, Pa. -
Ava Cefaloni and
Ava Prisco each tallied in the first-half, while at the other end of the pitch the defense continued to show off their prowless as the Dickinson women's soccer team ran their shutout streak to 360 minutes with a 2-0 non-conference win over the University of Mary Washington at Miller Memorial Field on Wednesday night.
- The visitors had the early chances with Maci Landel and Ellen Shine unable to test Sophia Kavulich.
- However, with just 4:46 gone it would be the hosts who found the net as Maddie St. Amand hit Prisco for the finish past Adriana Thompson.
- UMW recorded five of the next six shots, but never bothered the DC keeper.
- The Devils made the score 2-0 with only six seconds left in the period when Cefaloni dropped the ball beyond the reach of Thompson.
- Lila Brown needed six minutes to tally the opening shot of the period, but it missed the mark.
- The Eagles had the five shots forcing Kavulich to make three stops to preserve the 2-0 edge into the 80th.
- It was then Dickinson's turn to apply the pressure as Lexie Greene, Ashley McSweeney, Bella Periera and Prisco all tasked Thompson with turning them away.
- The Red and White had a big chance to make the score 3-0 in the 84th as a Eagles foul in the box led to a penalty kick. However, Bridget Merkel was stoned by Thompson from 12-yards out.Â
- Madison Mobray recorded the last shot of the match, but Thompson was there once again to close out the 2-0 scoreline.
