CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team went in search of their fifth straight win to open the 2024 season on Saturday at Grove City College. Unfortunately, for the Red and White it was the host Wolverines that got the better of the Devils on the day as they posted a 3-2 non-conference win at Don Lyle Field.
- The Devils needed just 64-seconds to grab a 1-0 lead as Emily Dunkel played in a corner to Lila Brown who stashed the ball past Courtney Lisman.
- Following a stop by Lisman on Bridget Merkel, the home side recorded the next five shots with two of them getting by Sophia Kavulich to give GC a 2-1 edge with 18 minutes gone.
- However, Dickinson had a response just over a minute later when Ava Prisco hit the back of the net making it 2-2 at the 18:33 mark.
- Dickinson tallied the remaining three shots of the frame with Lexie Green and Katie Vassilakos missing the mark, while Ashley McSweeney was denied by Lisman.
- Kavulich was busy early in the period as she turned away Haah Costa, Emma Herrmann and Kiara White, while at the other end of the pitch Lisman shutdown Ellie Nordwind and Brown to keep it 2-2 ino the 65th.
- The next shot came in the 72nd and it would be off the boot of Lexi Zook as her offering slipped beyond Kavulich to give the hosts a 3-2 edge.Â
- Norah Heacock, Brown and McSweeney each tasked Lisman with making a save over the remaining 18 minutes, but the keeper held her ground and got GC the 3-2 win.
