#5 Devils and Shoremen Share the Points in Conference Opener

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The fifth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team went in search of their eighth consecutive win to start the 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon in the Centennial Conference opener. However, the Red and White knew the task would be a stiff one as they took on 2023 NCAA National Semifinalist Washington College (Md.) at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. Despite a total of 33 shots being taken between the two sides no one was able to break through as they played to a 0-0 draw.

  • The Red and White had seven straight shots after that coming from Nicholas Dwamena (2), Saul Iwowo, Ethan Jarden and Daniel Spataro (2), but Cole White was there to record three saves.
  • George was finally called into action during the 18th-minute as Katim Njie was shutdown by the DC keeper.
  • Dickinson would notch four of the final six shots of the period with White turning away Jackson Wolf, while Tyson Burling, Roan Harrington and Connor Uitterdijk all missed the mark as the match went to the half.

  • The visitors were on the front-foot to open the period recording six of the first seven shots within the opening 15 minutes thanks to Timi Omoniwa (2), Dwamena, Jarden and Spataro, but none tested White.
  • Shepherd Koffie and Tucker Sprano tried to breakthrough against George in the 68th. However, the DC keeper had none of it batting away both shots.
  • Inside the final ten minutes it was all Dickinson on the attack with Jeremy Sallade, Dwamena and Iwowo ripping shots towards goal with none of them getting on target.
  • The Devils had one last chance with 21-seconds remaining off a corner kick, but the offering from Iwowo went over the top of the net to close out the 0-0 tie.
