#6 Devils Don't Let Rain or Mustangs Slow them Down

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The sixth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team got a 29th-minute penalty kick goal from Nicholas Dwamena and then locked things down defensively as a team the rest of the way to see out a 1-0 non-conference win over Stevenson University at a soggy Owings Mills East Turf Field. Dickinson continues to have one of the best defenses in the nation having allowed just two goals over their first nine matches.

Template - 1st Half
  • Gavin Marr made his first start between the sticks for the Red and White and immediately watched his teammates put SU keeper Nolen Olson-Warwick under pressure as Mack Moore, Timi Omoniwa, Jeremy Sallade and Connor Uitterdijk let shots fly forcing one save 18 minutes in.
  • There would not be another shot until the 29th-minute when Joey Brauer brought down a DC attacker in the box. That sent Dwamena to the 12-yard spot and he dispatched the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead.
  • Marr was then finally called into action for the first time just a few minutes later as he shutdown both Blest Dumbuya and Bryant Seivers.
  • Ethan Jarden tried to make it 2-0 just before halftime, but Olson-Warwick was there to make the stop sending the match to the break.
Template - 2nd Half
  • For the second straight period Dickinson was on the early attack with Olson-Warwick denying Johnny Diederich, Moore, Omoniwa (2) and Sallade holding the margin at just one as the contest entered the final 30 minutes.
  • Marr would respond with two more stops of his own against Eli Geist and Nick Sirasky.
  • The last shot of the match came in the 73rd with Olson-Warwick once again having an answer between the sticks stopping Jarden.
