CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team pushed hard for 60 minutes on Wednesday afternoon against the eleventh-ranked York College of Pennsylvania Spartans, but ultimately came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 setback in the home opener at the Biddle Field Complex.
- It took just 1:16 for the visitors to record the first shot and goal thanks to Riley Buschert.
- The Spartans found their only other goal about six minutes later when Kate Egan chipped one over Taylor Morrow.
- The Devils then found their footing tallying five of the final six shots of the period courtesy Megan McClure, Natalie Slusser, Nicole Uebele and Becca Woods. However, none of them bested Belle Fields.
- York was on the front foot to begin the period recording five shots inside the opening five minutes forcing three saves out of Morrow.
- Following a save from Fields against Woods, the Red and White finally found the board when Uebele put home a rebound off an attempt by Sophia Pereira at the 23:30 mark.
- Fields would turn aside both Malena Malka Goldman and Woods, while Morrow had the answer for Buschert to keep it at 2-1 through 30 minutes.
- The Devils had the first shot of the period, but Uebele's offering was blocked by the defense.
- York then earned three consecutive corners and notched four shots forcing three stops out of Morrow.
- Dickinson had three cracks to level the game late in the quarter, unfortunately Pereira hit the pipe and Woods was shutdown twice by Fields.
- Within the first ten minutes DC tallied four shots with Maggie Carson having one swept off the line by Libby Wild, while Malka Goldman and Uebele each missed the cage.
- York would be able to see out the rest of the game to earn the win.
