WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson men's basketball team was unable to hold onto a slim one-point halftime lead on Wednesday night as the host McDaniel College Green Terror staved off multiple comeback attempts from the Red and White in the second half as they secured a 65-58 Centennial Conference win inside the Gill Center.
- The teams traded scores over the first three minutes as two Juan Ruiz layups had the score knotted at 4-4.
- Dickinson then went on a push with David Petrusev hitting a turnaround jumper, while Isaiah Edmond and Luis Ruiz each picked up a bucket during a 7-4 push to go ahead 11-8 with eleven minutes left.
- Back-to-back Andrew Cerullo triples and Petrusev layup capped off an 8-2 run for a 19-10 advantage at the under nine minute mark.
- A Jonas Sujeta three-ball led to a 13-4 outburst from the home side that ended with a David Kearney layup to knot things back up at 23-23 with 90-ticks to go.
- An "old-fashioned" three-point play by Petrusev and a buzzer-beating floater for Chuck Contee gave DC the slim 26-25 lead after 20 minutes.
- A pair of Petrusev free throws along with a layup for Ruiz were the only points for Dickinson over the first seven minutes as the home side went on a 12-4 charge ending on a Contee triple making it 37-30 McDaniel.
- Two Edmond jumpers continued to give DC hope at 40-34, but buckets for Russell Dandridge and Contee bumped the margin to 44-34 with less than seven minutes to play.
- Six of the next eight belonged to the Devils thanks to Edmond and Petrusev, unfortunately, three points by Contee held the advantage at 49-40 at the 15:18 mark.
- Despite the Red and White getting hot from deep as Joey Dopirak, Brandon Wiercinski and Edmond each delivered trimming the gap to just four (58-54) with 34-seconds left.
- However, the visitors were unable to get any closer using the "foul game" as the Green Terror sunk seven of eight at the charity line to hold on for the 65-58 win.
