Fords Down Devils in CC Clash on the Main Line

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team put four players in double-digits, but were unable to overcome a sizable deficit on the 52-34 as the host Haverford College Fords picked up an 80-70 Centennial Conference win over the Red and White at Gooding Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Template - 1st Half
  • The home side came out strong as a Brandon Wiercinski triple was the only bucket for the Devils over the three-plus minutes as the Fords led 9-3.
  • A tipin by Cole Cosby and five points for Ryan Leskauskas did nothing to cut into the deficit as the home side stayed ahead 16-10 with 12:33 left.
  • Baskets for Isaiah Edmond and Juan Ruiz put DC down seven (21-14), before Luke Phillips and Adam Strong-Jacobson responded to make it 25-14 with 12:42 gone.
  • Points for Joey Dopirak, Cosby, Edmond and Wiercinski contributed to a 14-2 outburst for Dickinson as they took the lead 28-27 inside of four minutes remaining.
  • Haverford ended the framed with the final eight points to take a 35-28 edge into the break.
Template - 2nd Half
  • Gaven Marr opened the scoring with a layup, but the trio of Dopirak, Ruiz and Wiercinski answered back with an 11-4 run to close the margin within two at 41-39 still with 16:18 left.
  • Alex George, Carter Warren and Marr collected seven of the next ten points to bump the gap out to 48-42 (14:06).
  • A pair of Leskauskas triples and a layup for Edmond once again helped the Devils get close at 52-50, but the Fords racked up the next nine to extend the margin to 61-50 with less than nine to play.
  • Four points by Edmond along with contributions from Dopirak and Wiercinski made it 64-58 with five minutes left.
  • Free throws for Matt Mahoney and Leskauskas continued to give DC life at 66-61, but the Red and White would get no closer as the Fords would salt the game away at the charity line to finish off the 80-70 win.
