WASHINGTON - The Dickinson College men's track and field team got back to competitive action for the first time in the new year on Saturday afternoon taking part in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic University.
Sprints
The duo of
Matthew Greenley and
Josh Penny competed in the 60m taking 54th (7.59) and 72nd (8.21). When hurdles were added to the distance Penny returned to the track and posted a 19th-place finish with an 11.67.
Franklyn Akabi-During completed the podium for the 200m by clocking in at 22.86, while
Nathan Caldwell rounded out the Top-10 with a 23.62.
Ian Gormley grabbed 30th (24.46) and
Tim Gross hit the line in 26.05 for 57th.
Akabi-During continued a strong meet by winning the 400m at 50.35, while Gormley clocked in at 52.80 for 12th.
Matthew Gareau and Ben Dench stayed within the Top-30 nabbing 25th (55.60) and 30th (57.03).
Distance
Once again this season the Red and White found success in the 800m as
Trevor Richwine won the event with a 1:55.71. He was joined in the Top-10 by
Evan Feldman and
Amos Liles in eighth (2:07.25) and ninth (2:07.97).
Travis Knaggs hit the line in 2:09.51 for 17th.
The duo of
Nolan Meincke and
Alex Hansen put forth a good showing in the mile run taking sixth (4:30.71) and eighth (4:35.66) respectively.
Jake Cruikshank finished in 17th (4:51.59), while
Matthew Colden clocked in at 4:55.00 to land just outside the Top-20 in 21st.
Two Devils grabbed Top-5 slots for the 3000m with Caldwell winning the event in 8:44.73 and
Benjamin Moseman securing fourth (8:58.80).
Matthew Dietrick landed in ninth thanks to a 9:10.17, followed by Eddie Liszka in 12th (9:13.04).
Brock Overlander and
Alexander Kane each earned places on the podium during the 5000m by nabbing second (15:20.88) and third (15:27.46), while
Luke Knestout claimed sixth thanks to a 15:34.28.
Atticus Fair finished off the competing Devils with an 11th-place result at 15:59.68.
Relays
The Dickinson "A" team earned third in the 4x400m with a time of 3:32.12, followed in 12th by Dickinson "B" at 3:44.49.
The Distance Medley group of
Max Collins, Jake Solovey, Erdmann and Gross finished in sixth thanks to a 12:16.27.
Field
Oliver Stroka had a good go in the weight throw taking fourth with a long heave of 14.82m
At the jump pit,
Jason Hollinger secured 16th for the long jump dropping in at 5.65m, while Penny hit the sand at 4.92m (24th).
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday when they head to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Franklin & Marshall Open starting at 10am.
