LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson College women's track and field team continued their indoor slate on Saturday afternoon taking part in the Coach I Open hosted by fellow Centennial Conference institution Franklin & Marshall College.
Sprints
Annie Leder was the highest placing member of the Red and White in the 60m taking 16th with an 8.40, while
Emily Chaine just missed the Top-20 claiming 22nd at 8.53.
Catarina Acosta nabbed 45th by crossing the line in 9.06, followed by
Emma Dice in 51st (9.30). When hurdles were moved in at that same distance three other athletes took to the track with
Leah Biwott hitting the stripe in 9.98 for seventh which edged out teammates
Lily Cusa (17th - 10.49) and
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh (21st - 10.64).
The 200m saw
Abbe Kitchin earned ninth at 27.66, while
Maddie Brown and Chaine secured Top-20 spots as well landing in 13th (27.87) and 17th (27.98). Cusa crossed the stripe at 29.58 to take 31st.
Distance
A trio of DC athletes garnered Top-10 places for the 800m led by
Marley Kurey in second (2:27.00), followed by
Sophia Kovalski and
Elizabeth Barbash in fifth (2:31.00) and eighth (2:31.73) respectively.
Breanna Franchak and
Devon Culberson locked up spots 16 (2:37.16) and 22 (2;41.61).
Two members of the Red and White nabbed Top-5 finishes during the mile run as
Amiyah Priebe earned second by hitting the line in 5:19.87, while Barbash crossed at 5:27.87 for fifth. Kovalski rounded out the Top-10 with a 5:31.77, followed by Franchak in 17th (5:47.65).
Maddie Garber (5:51.03), Culberson (5:59.69) and
Emma VanMeter (6:21.59) also took to the track for the race.
Two Devils secured Top-10 results during the 5000m as
Myra Naqvi finished in 19:09.82 for fourth, while
Abby Duffy crossed at 20:16.54 for ninth.
Jenna Kerns and
Rebecca Roberts almost ran together claiming 13th (20:57.51) and 14th (21:02.53), before
Lauren Scott placed 16th with a 21:22.55.
Relays
Dickinson landed on the top spot of the podium for the 4x400m as the team of Biwott, Brown, Kitchin and Kurey hit the line in 4:13.32, while Barbash, Kovalski, Naqvi and Priebe locked down sixth at 4:26.82.
Field
Biwott rounded out the Top-5 for the high jump by clearing 1.47m.
Leder had a great day at the jump pit as she won the long jump with a leap of 5.22m. She then completed the podium for the triple jump by hitting the sand at 10.66m.
A trio went to work during the pole vault with both
Lily Swain and Lexi Borecki grabbing 13th and 14th respectively by clearing 2.73m. McMaken-Marsh eclipsed 2.58m for 17th.Â
The duo of
Jenna Deep and Acosta competed in both the weight throw and shot put. First in the weight throw, Deep posted a tenth-place finish with a toss of 13.39m, while Acosta grabbed 44th at 7.79m. Deep then dropped in at 9.97m during the weight throw which was good for 18th, followed by Acosta at 5.35m (55th).
Next on the Track
The Red Devils return to action next Saturday when they head to Reading, Pennsylvania to compete in the Alvernia University Plex Open starting at 9am.
