CARLISLE, Pa. - After a scoreless opening 45 minutes junior forward
Ava Prisco netted a pair of goals, while
Joelle Ma and
Maddie St. Amand each added one to cap off a 4-2 non-conference win over the visiting Susquehanna University at Miller Memorial Field on Wednesday night. The Red and White's aggressive offense was evident all evening long with 21 shots and 11 of them getting on target, while goalkeeper
Pico Gray made three saves to secure the victory.
First Half
- Dickinson's Mckenna Gross initiated the offensive efforts with a shot at 2:52, but it went over the top of goal.
- Susquehanna's Katie Henchy made crucial saves against both Anna Bitsko, Gross and St. Amand in 6th, 15th and 20th respectively.
- With 27:47 gone, a foul comitted by Hannah Parslow led to a penalty kick for DC. Joelle Ma stepped up to the spot and sent a right-footed offering towards Henchy which she was able to push away to keep it 0-0 at halftime.
Second Half
- The Devils needed just 1:43 to take the lead as Norah Heacock played a ball up the right-wing to Prisco who carried into the box and fired a shot past Henchy for the 1-0 lead.
- Susquehanna would then turn the match around scoring twice between minutes 50 and 55 thanks to Ava Billmeyer and Mary Grace Duncan making it 2-1.
- Prisco then recorded three consecutive shots trying to bring the home side back on level terms, but she was unable to beat Henchy as the match entered the final half hour.
- Dickinson did find their equalizer at the 62:10 mark when a foul about 25-yards from goal resulted in a free kick, and after having had her penalty chance saved Ma drilled a perfect curling strike by the keeper into the net.
- Four minutes later it was 3-2 Devils when a cross from the right side by Bridget Merkel connected with St. Amand who hit the volley into the roof of the goal.
- Following two more stops by Henchy on Isabelle Bariso and Gross, Prisco finished off her brace with ten minutes left to set the 4-2 final.
