CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team got two goals from
Nicole Uebele and one off the stick of
Megan McClure, while having goalie
Taylor Morrow posting four saves en route to a 3-1 win over the visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland at the Biddlle Field Complex on Wednesday afternoon in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.
First Quarter
- Both keepers were called into action within the first five minutes as Morrow shutdown Briana Allen and Sophia Kent having the answer for Gillian Rosenstock.
- Over the next two minutes one visiting corner chance led to three opportunities for the Seahawks, but Morrow was able to deny every one of them.
- Dickinson had the final two shots of the frame with Uebele testing Kent and Alexandra Hockwitt launching her chance over the top of the cage.
Second Quarter
- Four minutes into the period Erin Liggio had a crack at getting their first goal of the contest, but her offering from Rosenstock's penalty corner missed the target.
- However, the Devils did take a 1-0 lead at the 24:38 mark when Uebele was able to control the ball and turn it past Kent.
- Inside the final two minutes Dickinson earned two corners leading to a shot from Natalie Slusser that was sent away by Kent to send the game to the break.
Third Quarter
- With 34:22 off the clock the Seahawks found their equalizer as Brenna Ziegler carried the ball into the attack from the midfield line and fired a perfectly placed shot into the top corner of the cage to make it 1-1.
- Dickinson attempted to reclaim the lead just a few minutes later, but Kent shutdown both Alex Hackett and Rosenstock off of two corner chances.
- Ziegler notched the Seahawks final chance of the frame, fortunately for Dickinson it rolled wide of the goal ending the period.
Fourth Quarter
- The Red and White used the first three minutes of the period to reclaim the lead as Uebele was stopped by Kent, before McClure got two cracks at it ultimately cashing in on her second chance off a dish from Slusser for the 2-1 edge.
- After that point the Devils locked it down defensively not allowing another shot for the Seahawks, while recording three themselves two by Carson which Kent stopped before Slusser connected with Uebele for her second and the 3-1 win.
