Five Players Hit Double Figures as the Devils Soar Away From Falcons

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team secured their first win of the 2025-26 season on Wednesday night by flying past local rival Messiah University by a score of 78-57 inside the Kline Center. The Red and White were led on the night by the group of Addison Cadwell, Mia Chapman, Clare Cronley, Lizzie McGrath and Esther Nlebemuo who all reach double-digits on the evening.

First Quarter
  • Things started off well for Messiah as buckets from Ainsley Bell, Liv Monturo and EmmyFaith Wood staked them to an 8-2 lead just over three minutes in.
  • Mia Chapman then setup Victoria Zerbe for a layup, before the two flipped roles to trim the score to 8-6.
  • Charlotte Milanesi and Monturo each connected on a jumper to double-up the score at 12-6, but two triples for Cadwell and one by McGrath allowed DC to close on a 9-0 push to take a 15-12 lead thru one.
Second Quarter
  • Dickinson used the opening two-plus minutes to put together a 10-0 run making the score 25-12 on buckets from Cadwell, Cronley and Nlebemuo.
  • Five points for Hope Cook cut the margin to 28-17, before baskets out of the hands of Cadwell, Cronley, Nlebemuo and Zerbe extended the gap to 34-19 with 5:59 off the clock.
  • Over the ensuing three minutes Chapman racked up six points to help the Devils hold a 40-24 edge at halftime.
Third Quarter
  • Layups for Chapman, Cronley and Zerbe combined with five points by McGrath pushed the lead for the Red and White to 51-26 at the 3:17 mark.
  • A paint bucket by April Kauffeldt stalled the DC momentum for a second, before back-to-back triples by Cadwell and Cronley had the edge to nearly 30 at 57-28.
  • The duo of Kauffeldt and Monturo did their best to cut into the Devils lead as they made it 63-36 with 96-seconds remaining.
  • Dickinson closed the period by watching Jelena Subasic beating horn with a driving layup for the 65-36 advantage going to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Falcons came out fighting hard opening up on a 10-0 run over the first 2:07 to close within 65-46.
  • Cronley cashed in the Devils first bucket of the frame with 3:18 gone (67-46).
  • Messiah continued to give DC all they could handle as Brooke Fenchel, Kauffeldt and Monturo each hit baskets to make it 72-55 still with just over two minutes to play.
  • McGrath and Nlebemuo picked up layups, before Lily Spanos collected her first points in a Dickinson jersey to set the 78-57 final.
