CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team got out to a fast start on Saturday in the home opener taking a 32-16 halftime lead over the visiting Lycoming College. The Red and White would hold off a late charge from the Warriors to secure the 60-54 non-conference win inside the Kline Center.
First Half
- Things were tied a minute in at 3-3 as Jacob Pichay and Hayden Pardoe exchanged long range shots.
- Then Dickinson seized control with a 17-2 to take a 20-5 advantage at the 10:41 mark with contributions coming from Joey Dopirak, Isaiah Edmond and Dane Moran
- The next couple of minutes saw J.J. Beagle and Pardoe each record a bucket to get within 20-10 with 8:20 to play.Â
- Three pointers by Cole Cosby and Edmond coupled with a layup for Ryan Leskauskas to open the lead up to a dozen at 28-16 inside of five minutes left.
- Two foul shots out of the hands of Pichay along with a layup from Ian Polonowski off a nice feed by Edmond gave the Red and White a 32-16 advantage at the break.
- The Devils defense was stellar over the final four-plus minutes forcing the Warriors to miss their final seven shots.
Second Half
- A three ball splashed home by Luis Ruiz was the only DC basket during an 11-3 Lycoming run to start the period as they closed within 35-27 with 16:44 left.
- Matt Mahoney landed a triple of his own to stall the push for a second, before Connor Shanahan and Pardoe hacked the margin to four (38-34) at the six minute mark.
- Four points by Leskauskas and a layup for Pichay gave the Devils a 44-39 with just under half of the period to play.
- Princeton Layton trimmed the gap to 44-43, but Edmond and Moran were able to extend the advantage to six at 52-46 inside of five minutes left.
- The Warriors would fight the rest of the way getting points from Isaiah Valentine and Beagle. However, the Devils were able to do just enough to keep the Warriors at-bay as free throws down the stretch by Edmond, Mahoney and Moran were enough to secure the 60-54 victory.
