CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team put three players in double figures on Saturday afternoon against the visiting Washington and Lee University. However, it would not be enough as the Red and White could not erase a ten-point halftime deficit falling to the Generals 75-67 inside the Kline Center.
First Half
- Things were tight early as points by Isaiah Edmond, Jacob Pichay and Juan Ruiz left the home side behind by the slimmest of margins 8-7 five minutes in.
- A triple for AJ Thomas started a 10-0 outburst for the Generals ending on a layup by Colin Ryan to make it 18-7 with exactly nine minutes gone.
- Three consecutive points put down by Dane Moran and four recorded out of the hands of Pichay allowed the Devils to close within 22-16 inside of seven minutes left.
- Thomas then posted the next eight for W&L with a three-pointer hit by Andrew Cerullo breaking up the effort to give the guests a 30-19 advantage.
- Another bomb for Cerullo along with a layup out of the hands of Joey Dopirak held the gap at eight (32-24). However, a jumper by Ryan along with a buzzer-beating three-ball for Connor Amorosi pushed the W&L lead to 37-27 at the break.
Second Half
- Â Edmond opened the period with a triple and a free throw by Pichay, unfortunately it did not cut into the margin as the Generals continued to lead 41-31 two minutes off the clock.
- Cerullo, Edmond and Moran then embarked on a 7-1 sprint to close within 42-38.
- The two sides shared the ensuing six points, before six consecutive DC points by J. Ruiz made it 50-47 almost to the halfway point.
- The trio of Ari Hobson, Ryan and Thomas helped the visitors to extend their edge out to 57-48 with just under nine minutes left.
- Six points by Cole Cosby and a foul shot drilled by Moran continued to give the Devils life at 62-55 at the 14:46 mark.Â
- However, seven of the next ten went the way of W&L making it 69-58.Â
- Four points for Pichay and three each from Luis Ruiz and Edmond cut the deficit to 71-65 with just 40 seconds to go.
- The duo of John Loughlin and Thomas went four-for-four at the charity line down the stretch to finish off the 75-67 result.
