CARLISLE, Pa. - For the second straight year the Dickinson men's soccer team is on to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament as goals from
Saul Iwowo and
Ethan Jarden provided enough offense, while keeper
Nick Potter made a few clutch saves to help give the Red and White a 2-0 win over Denison University at Miller Memorial Field on Sunday afternoon.
First Half
- The opening ten minutes saw both sides feeling each other out as there was just one shot that came from Kameron Kist, but it was knocked down by the DC defense.
- Dickinson would be the first team to ask a question of a goalie when Alex Provost stood tall against Luke Finkielstein in the 14th minute.
- Three minutes later the Devils made it 1-0 when Iwowo danced through the Denison defense a stuck a shot under an on-rushing Provost for the lead.
- With 33:01 off the clock Potter was tested for the first time, however the offering from Jack Rice was denied.
- Jarden gave the Red and White one last chance to extend their advantage, unfortunately, Provost turned him away to move the match to the break.
Second Half
- Denison came out of the break fired up recording the first three shots within the opening ten minutes leading to one stop for Potter.
- In the 65th minute the Devils did push the lead to 2-0 when Jarden picked the ball up around midfield and carried forward for about 20 yards, before letting a shot fly from 30 past Provost into the top right corner.
- The visitors would push hard for the duration of the match tallying six shots leading to Potter recording two more stops to preserve the 2-0 victory.

- Dickinson (15-0-7) will continue their tournament run next weekend in Lynchburg, Virginia against the host University of Lynchburg in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The other match in the pod will feature Rowan University and Emory University with the two winners to square off for a trip to the Final Four.
