Devils Postseason Bound Despite Loss to Diplomats in Home Finale

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's basketball team entered their home finale on Wednesday night knowing that a win would see them into the Centennial Conference postseason and through 20 minutes things were looking hopeful as they were locked at 31-31 with the visiting Franklin and Marshall College. However, the visiting Diplomats outpaced the Red and White 38-22 over the final period to claim a 69-53 win. Fortunately, though for the Devils courtesy of other results around the conference they have secured the sixth seed in next week's tournament with a game to go.

  • Triples for Sebastien Charles and Vakaris Grauslys had the guests out to an 8-4 edge five minutes in as David Petrusev accounted for both DC buckets.
  • Baskets by Joey Dopirak, Ryan Leskauskas and Juan Ruiz helped the home side trim one off the deficit as they trailed 14-11 with 11:05 left.
  • Five of the next eight went to Sam Davison to push it out to 19-14, but the group of Brandon Wiercinski, Petrusev and Ruiz once again fought back for Dickinson to make it 22-21 inside of six minutes.
  • After scores by John Seidman and Grauslys made the lead 26-23, four straight for Cole Cosby finally got the Devils on top 27-26 with 17:14 off the clock.
  • F&M reclaimed a 31-29 edge on a triple from Asad Syed with 32 seconds remaining, but Isaiah Edmond setup Dopirak for a buzzer-beating floater to tie the score at the break.

  • The Diplomats separated themselves coming out of the locker room with baskets by Kevin Nowoswiat, Grauslys and Seidman contributing to a 12-0 run taking a 43-31 lead with not even six minutes gone.
  • Dickinson tried to chip away as buckets for Dopirak, Edmond, Petrusev and J. Ruiz kept the home team within striking distance at 50-45 with 9:14 left.
  • Josh Parra, Charles and Grauslys would help F&M push the gap back out to double-digits 58-48 at the 14:06 mark.
  • The trio of Dopirak, Edmond and Leskauskas each found the bottom of the bucket for the Red and White, but it would not be enough as the Diplomats closed out the 69-53 win.
