COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's track and field team made good use of their first two days at the Centennial Conference Championships as the Red and White secured multiple medals, including two golds as well as had numerous athletes earn slots in Sunday's finals at Patterson Field on the campus of Ursinus College.
Friday
Distance
Maddie Garber posted a fourth-place finish for the 10,000m with a personal best time of 38:06.02, while
Jenna Kerns finished in 15th thanks to a 44:48.83.
Field
The duo of
Lily Swain and
Sylvie McMaken-Marsh took part in the pole vault claiming 12th (2.85m) and 15th (2.70m) respectively.
Then, during the hammer throw,
Jenna Deep earned the Devils first medal of the championship with a third-place result after a toss of 42.72m.
Damien Labrada joined Deep inside the Top-10 with a mark of 37.81m being good for eighth.
Sarah Glickson and
Catarina Acosta dropped in at 17th (29.64m) and 18th (28.32m).
Saturday
Sprints
Erin Olsavsky secured a spot in Sunday's final for the 100m by posting the third quickest qualifying time of 12.37. The trio of
Emily Chaine,
Maddie Kyle and Acosta all competed as well landing in 19th (13.11), 21st (13.39) and 23rd (13.83). Then, with hurdles laid out and the distance moved back to 110m both
Annie Leder and
Leah Biwott locked down spots in the final with fourth (15.81) and sixth (16.19), while McMaken-Marsh and
Lily Cusa missed the final by stopping the clock at 17.32 (12th) and 17.43 (13th).
Olsavsky made sure she was going to be involved in the 200m final as well by topping the field in the prelims with a 25.21. Chaine and Kyle earned 12th (27.08) and 13th (27.30) which were both personal best times.
The 400m saw a pair of Devils pick up spots in Sunday's final as Brown clocked in at 58.39 for second, followed by
Marley Kurey in third (58.69).
Abbe Kitchin stopped the timer in 1:03.08 to nab 11th. Two different members of the Red and White qualified for the 400m hurdle final as Swain posted a new PR of 1:07.66, while Cusa earned eighth at 1:12.10.
Lauren Scott grabbed 12th with a 1:16.80.
Distance
Dickinson collected another medal this time of the gold variety during the 3000m steeplechase where
Amiyah Priebe bested the field hitting the line in 10:53.66.
Elizabeth Barbash also earned a Top-10 finish crossing at 11:45.50 to take eighth.
Relays
The Red Devils just missed the podium for the 4x800m posting a time of 9:40.78 to take fourth.
Field
Labrada returned to the field on Saturday for the discus claiming eighth with a toss of 34.52m, while Deep dropped her throw in at 29.05m (16th).
At the jump pit, Biwott nabbed eighth in the high jump after clearing the 1.45m mark. Two-thirds of the podium for the long jump was made up of Devils as Leder won gold at 5.87m, followed in third by Biwott with a leap of 5.59m.
The duo of Swain and McMaken-Marsh did battle during the pole vault taking home 12th (2.85m) and 15th (2.70m) respectively.
Team Scores
Johns Hopkins leads the way with 148.5 points, followed by: Swarthmore (57), Dickinson (45.5), Ursinus (21.5), Gettysburg (16), Franklin & Marshall (15), Haverford (14), Bryn Mawr (13), Muhlenberg (10.5) and McDaniel (10).
