CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson field hockey team was on the attack early and often on Saturday afternoon as they held a 35-1 (15-1 on target) shot advantage and had four different players find the back of the net en route to a convincing 5-0 non-conference win over the visiting Juniata College at the Biddle Field Complex.
First Quarter
- The Devils were asking questions of the Juniata defense right from the jump as they earned three penalty corners inside the opening four minutes leading to shots for Erin Liggio and Sophia Pereira leading to one save by Kara Stringfellow.
- Dickinson then cracked the scoreboard with 4:15 gone when Maggie Carson inserted a corner to Natalie Slusser who let a shot fly from the top of the circle which was tipped past the keeper by Carson for the lead.
- The group of Lucy Brown, Gillian Rosenstock, Alexandra Hockwitt, Liggio and Slusser each posted a shot leading to three stops by Stringfellow.
- However, the Red and White weren't done for the period as Rosenstock put a shot past Stringfellow right at the 15-minute mark to make it 2-0.
Second Quarter
- Within the first five minutes each side would ask a question of the goalies as Nicole Uebele was denied by Stringfellow, while Taylor Morrow had the answer for Sophia Ganley.
- Three consecutive corners resulted in chances from Pereira, Slusser and Liggio, but all three of them were knocked down by the defense.
- Dickinson extended the margin to 3-0 just over a minute before halftime when a corner played in by Slusser found Hockwitt who connected with Rosenstock for her second of the day.
Third Quarter
- It became four just 2:49 into the period when corner from Carson came to Uebele who blasted it past the reach of Stringfellow.
- Two minutes later it was 5-0 thanks to Hockwitt ripping one to the back of the cage.
- Lucy Brown, Malena Malka Goldman, Ella McTeague, Carson, Slusser and Rosenstock combined for ten more shots over the remainder of the period, but none of them bothered Stringfellow.
Fourth Quarter
- The "one-way" traffic continued for the Devils with the trio of Liggio, Pereira and Uebele joining together for six shots tasking Stringfellow into making three saves as the match approached the final five minutes.
- Rosenstock added two more chance forcing one final Stringfellow save to set the 5-0 final.
