CARLISLE, Pa. - Junior forward
Megan McClure scored twice, while
Sophia Pereira,
Gillian Rosenstock and
Nicole Uebele each tallied once as the 25th-ranked Dickinson field hockey team shutout the visiting DeSales University Bulldogs by a final of 5-0 at the Biddle Field Complex on Saturday afternoon.
First Quarter
- Dickinson was on the attack from the opening whistle earning three penalty corners and recording three shots in the opening frame.Â
- Rosenstock would be the first one to dent Alyssa Schlossman as Uebele found her for the finish at the 5:28 mark.Â
- Then, just over three minutes later the Red and White extended it to 2-0 when Rosenstock played provider for Pereira's marker.
- DeSales was kept from any offensive flow in the period as a staunch Dickinson backline did not allow a single shot to come towards Taylor Morrow during the opening 15 minutes.
Second Quarter
- Dickinson's defense was once again the story as they continued to hold the Bulldogs without a shot for the duration of the frame with Kayla Capuzzi in between the pipes after relieving Morrow.Â
- There would be only one shot and it would come with 10:32 off the clock when Maggie Carson inserted a corner to Alexandra Hockwitt who played a pass across the top of the circle to Erin Liggio who then sent the ball to McClure for the finish past Schlossman making it 3-0 at the break.
Third Quarter
- It would take not even two minutes for the Red and White to bump the margin to 4-0 when Liggio connected with Uebele.
- Both Lucy Brown and Alex Hackett would record a shot, but neither tested Schlossman.
- However, the Devils did add one more to their advantage with just 38-seconds remaining when Pereira picked up another point by finding McClure for her second and the 5-0 edge after 45 minutes.
Fourth Quarter
- The Bulldogs finally managed their first shots of the day within the opening two minutes as Brooke Sodl was stopped by Capuzzi and Meghan Dahl skipped one wide of frame.
- Dickinson had the chance to extend the margin two time when offerings from Rosenstock and Hockwitt each got by Schlossman. Unfortunately, defender Lily Trocki was there to sweep the ball off the line to set the 5-0 final.
