CARLISLE, Pa. - The eighth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team got first-half tallies from
Saul Iwowo and
Austin Holloway, while using another stellar defensive performance en route to posting their sixth shutout of the season with a 2-0 conference win over Washington College at Miller Memorial Field.
First Half
- The Red and White were asking questions of WAC keeper Hannes Budde right from the start as he had to shutdown both Jeremy Sallade and Iwowo within the opening seven minutes.
- However, all that attacking and hardwork was ultimately rewarded when Wilken Bauer brought down a DC attacker in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Iwowo would step up from 12-yards out and hammer it past Budde to make it 1-0 with 7:14 gone.
- The next 20-plus minutes were played primarily in the midfield with neither side able to record a shot during that time.
- Dickinson finally found another chance at the 36:54 mark when Luke Finkielstein pinged the ball off the post. Jackson Wolf corralled the rebound and blasted his offering over the net.
- It did become 2-0 for the home side five minutes from time when Holloway beat Budde.
Second Half
- Seven minutes into the period the Shoremen had two offerings from Tyler Davidson were blocked by the DC backline.
- Dickinson had shots in minutes 58 and 69 come off the feet of Nicholas Dwamena and Ethan Jarden respectively, unfortunately none of them got on frame.
- Washington recorded three of the final four chances tasking Nick Potter into making one save, while at the other end Darian Crim missed high to set the final of 2-0.
