ALTOONA, Pa. - The Dickinson women's volleyball team used a well balanced performance on Friday night to pick up a 3-0 non-conference road win over the host Penn State Altoona inside of Adler Arena.
Match Results - DEVILS 3, Lions 0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-22)
Set One
- The home side got off to an early 6-3 edge thanks to kills by Kyla Campbell and Lia Simanski.
- Dickinson answered back with seven of the next ten on scores from Jessica Currie, Amelia Kim and Mallie Thomas to jump in front 10-9.
- After an error knotted the score at 10-10, a combination block between Emery Fishbach and Lora Flynn along with kills for Eliette Whittaker, Flynn, Kim and Thomas opened up a 20-14 advantage for the Devils.
- Maggie Brewer and Simanski helped the Lions to get within 24-21, but a service error by Simanski closed the set for the visitors (25-21).
Set Two
- The two sides traded the opening ten points with Currie, Fishbach and Whittaker accounting for the DC points.
- An error by Simanski then kickstarted a 14-2 rampage for the Red and White to charge ahead 19-7 as Fishbach, Flynn, Thomas and Whittaker picked up the kills for the Devils.
- A kill for Currie and ace by Thomas helped DC close on a 6-3 run to take the frame 25-10.
Set Three
- PSU jumped out to a 6-3 lead on scores put away by Julia Emel, Brewer and Simanski.
- Two Thomas kills and solos for Fishbach and Kim bumped the Red and White to the front 9-8.
- Three DC miscues and a pair of Hadley kills helped to send the hosts back ahead at 14-12.
- Dickinson rallied back though as solo blocks for Lillian Bigsby and Currie sparked an 8-3 Devils charge to take a 20-17 advantage.
- Kills by Jadeyn Price and Brewer gave the Lions a lifeline at 23-20, but a bad service and combo block between Bigsby and Currie ended the match (25-22).
